Sausage and Egg Puff Pastry Roll

Ingredients:
For the Dough:
1 pack of ready-made puff pastry (about 500g)
For the Filling:
4 sausages (beef or chicken)
3 eggs (2 for cooking, 1 for brushing)
¼ cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese (optional)
½ small onion, finely chopped
1 tsp butter or oil
Salt and black pepper to taste
A pinch of chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Filling:
Heat butter or oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft.
Cut the sausages into small slices or crumble them, then add them to the pan and cook until fully done.
Crack 2 eggs into the pan and stir until the eggs are cooked and well combined with the sausage.
Season with salt, black pepper, and add cheese if desired. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
2. Prepare the Dough:
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangular shape.
Place the filling in the center of the dough lengthwise.
Tightly roll the dough around the filling to form a long roll, sealing the edges securely.
3. Egg Wash:
Beat the remaining egg with 1 tsp of water.
Brush the surface of the roll with the egg mixture using a pastry brush.
Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds or black seeds on top for decoration.
4. Baking:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
Place the roll on a greased or parchment-lined baking tray.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
5. Serving:
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.
Serve warm with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.
